Project Isaiah Update from CBD’s Social Action Committee

Posted by challahbackgirl on October 16, 2009

I wish you could have been with me when I delivered the clothing to an elementary school in downtown San Jose. The staff was thrilled as will be children who literally have no one pair of socks.

Together we donated more then 200 pairs of socks, about 75 girls underpants and 75 boys underpants. The 18 jackets and sweaters, 10 jeans, dresses etc. will be well used.

To Second Harvest Food Bank we donated 2,207 pounds. The food barrel is in the lobby when ever you care to donate.

It is even more useful to send them a check because they have the ability to buy far more food food per dollar then any of us can do.

The Trunk in the CBD lobby is still there to take your donations of clothes, along with the Second Harvest barrel and Toy Drive Box.

The 2009 Survey of the Jewish Next Generation of the South Peninsula

Posted by jewsnextdor on October 15, 2009

Calling all Jewish Young Adults in the South Bay and Peninsula to participate in The 2009 Survey of the Jewish Next Generation of the South Peninsula. That’s right it’s time to give young adults south of SF some attention. The study is aimed at gaining a better understanding of the interests, needs, and desires of Jewish young adults in the South Peninsula. The results will be used to identify unmet needs and establish a plan to address them. Please not only donate (about) 15 minutes of your time to take the survey, but please spread the word to all the Jewish Young Adults you know.

Oh and did I mention there’s raffle prizes….

Who are the Jews of the next generation?  What are your interests? Your passions?  Your concerns?  Hopes?  Expectations?  What do you want out of your Jewish lives in the South Peninsula?

We want to know, and we’re inviting you to tell us in “The 2009 Survey of the Jewish Next Generation of the South Peninsula.”

No matter how you define yourself as “Jewish” or “Young,” we’d like you to spend a few minutes with our survey, filling it out and telling us what you think, what you feel, what you hope, and what you’d like to see in your community.

To take the survey, please click on this link, or cut-and-paste it into your web-browser.  <http://bit.ly/SouthPen>

If you’ve already filled out the survey, thank you.  And please feel free to circulate this email and the link among your friends.

The survey has been commissioned by the South Peninsula Council of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties.  Dr. Ari Y Kelman and Dr. Tobin Belzer are conducting the survey and are sharing duties as the Principal Investigator.

Participants who complete the survey may enter their name to win a new iPod Nano (with video!) or $50 gift certificates to Amazon.

Your answers will be treated confidentially.  If you choose to enter the drawing, your email will only be used to contact winners.  That means that we will never share your identity or individual answers with anyone.

We’ll be sharing the compiled results of the survey with you as soon as they are ready for distribution. Should you have any comments, write Dr. Kelman or Dr. Belzer directly at aykelman@ucdavis.edu or tbelzer@usc.edu

We thank you for your time,

Dr. Ari Y Kelman, UC Davis
Dr. Tobin Belzer, USC
