Jews’ Next Dor is fully volunteer led, depending on volunteers for all aspects of operations. We love our current volunteers, and welcome new ones and fresh ideas.
Come weigh in on group decisions, help calendar and plan events for the coming months.
If you cannot make the meeting, we still want your participation.

Sunday, November 8, 7pm, Ice Cream Social & Game Night
Jews’ Next Dor Board Game Night and Ice Cream Social returns. Please bring your favorite board game(s) to share and join your fellow Jewish 20 and 30 somethings to indulge in ice cream with all the fixings! We’ll be in the Social Hall at Congregation Beth David, 19700 Prospect Road, Saratoga, Ca.
$5 a person.

Contribute to our annual Toy Drive by bringing a new toy or more for our annual toy drive to support Jewish Family Services. We’re looking for new toys for ages 0-17 unwrapped.

Enjoy vegetarian/dairy dinner with fellow young adults at our monthly Meet & Greet on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Saturday, November 14, 8:30pm, Singing with the Stars
Come hang out with friends and sing along to the LASER BEATLES: SGT. PEPPER’S LASER LIGHT SHOW at the De Anza Planetarium (or just listen to others). Tickets are $9 per person and Parking permits are required everyday. Permits can be purchased in every student lot, price is $2 in coins or dollar bills only. So if you can carpool that is best. We’ll meet at 8:30pm at the Fujitsu Planetarium at De Anza College, 21250 Stevens Creek Blvd to get tickets for the show. Show starts at 9pm. JewsNextDor[at]beth-david.org

Saturday, November 21, 7pm, Spicy Havdala Dessert Party
It’s getting chilly outside, but T’KEYA and Jews’ Next Dor are warming things up with a Spicy Havdala Dessert Party. The night starts with cozy havdala goodness and fire, wine, and spices. You are welcome to bring your own implements of havdaluction. Our spice boxes can play together. Potluck dessert and wine party to follow. Join us! Please bring chocolate, fruit, a vegetarian dessert of choice, or your favorite kosher wine or spirit. Please note our host has a cat. Thursday, November 5, 7pm – 10pm – Pub Night (Antonio’s Nut House: 321 S California Ave., Palo Alto)
Join your Roots Collective crowd for a night of schmoozing at Antonio’s Nut House in Palo Alto. Hang out with friends and have a beer!
Friday, November 13, 6:15pm – Shabbat Dinner (Beth Am)
Gather with friends, new and old, to unwind at the end of a busy week, and kick-off the week-end in a relaxing way. We’ll eat, chat, and have some fun. Dinner will start at 7:30. Prior to dinner, you are invited to attend services with the Beth Am community, beginning at 6:15. A group of Roots Collective members will be sitting together and would love to have you join us. Rabbi David Forman, a founder of Israel’s Rabbis for Human Rights, will be speaking about the current state of human rights affairs in Israel during the service; in addition, he will speak at 5 PM in the sanctuary on “Can a Jewish State be a Democratic State?”. If you can’t make it in time for services, please join us for dinner anyway. Cost: $15 per person.

Join us this month for our monthly discussion of topics salient and provocative. Our very own Roots Collective members have been volunteering to lead these discussions. If you are interested in leading, hosting, have an idea for a topic, or want more information, please email Brian and Katy Levine at salon@rootscollective.org. We will be sending out information on this month’s topic as soon as it is available.
Notable Beth Am Events
Saturday, November 14, 7pm – 11pm – Poker Night: Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Fundraiser (Beth Am)
Just when you thought it was safe, Beth Am Men’s Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Fundraiser is back! Roots Collective will be joining Beth Am Men for a night of Texas Hold ‘Em Poker.
This is a fun filled and relaxed adults-only evening of food, drink and camaraderie. Both men and women are welcome. No experience is necessary and beginner instruction will be provided. All proceeds will go to Beth Am’s many tzedakah projects.
The game is no-limit Texas Hold ‘Em. We’ll start at 7 p.m. with check in, a light dinner, drinks, dessert and instruction for those who are learning. The poker itself will start at 7:30 p.m. Suggested donation is $50 in advance or $60 at the door, which includes poker chips, food, adult beverages and fabulous prizes for the top finishers.
