President’s Message – June 21, 2011
Posted by sjwisch on June 21, 2011
Shalom, Chaverim! I hope everyone is doing well and is able to find refuge from our crazy June weather. Today is the summer solstice – and the first official day of summer, which means more hours of daylight than any other day on the calendar.
Also, today is THE DAY! Jews’ Next Dor is holding its ELECTIONS tonight. Join us as we elect the new steering committee! Exercise your right to VOTE and show your support for your fellow JNDers as they run for the board. Seven people have submitted their candidacy for the new steering committee, and nominations will be accepted from the floor tonight. If you are nominating somone or are being nominated, you must be present at the elections for the nomination to be accepted and for the nominee to give their speech and be written onto the ballot.
Elections begin TONIGHT at 7 pm at a private home in Cupertino. The address has been sent out, but you can still email JewsNextDor@beth-david.org to receive the address. Our board is checking email throughout the day and the address will be emailed out up until the elections commence. Join us tonight and be part of the future of Jews’ Next Dor.
We also have many events coming up – so please check the Facebook invites for OFJCC Summer Salsa Night http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/event.php?eid=183965558318951
the Mt. Tamalpais Hike http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/event.php?eid=188059994576910
and the 4th of July Kosher BBQ and pool party http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/event.php?eid=179976108723850. For the BBQ, please reserve in advance and let us know your meal choice as the shopping will be done in advance and we want to accommodate all who wish to attend.
I look forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming events. Thank you to all of the volunteers who have stepped up to plan these great activities – keep it up!
