The Folk Collection is a three-part-harmony folk group based in Southern California. Our music is a tribute to the songs made famous by The Kingston Trio, The Limeliters, Peter Paul & Mary, John Denver and the other great artists of the folk era.

From “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “This Land is Your Land” to “Early Mornin’ Rain” and “MTA”. Our shows are nostalgic and entertaining. We are family friendly, blending our music with jokes and humor.

It’s okay to sing along… most people do!

Online ticket sales is now open for Cantor Andres Levy’s annual concert. (remember last year’s?) Since 2003 Cantor Levy has boarded a plane in Argentina where he resides, to the South Bay to be Congregation Beth David’s High Holiday Cantor. This year is no different. (Have you got your CBD High Holiday Tickets?) For the last few years he’s been putting on a concert of Jewish music in a myriad of languages drawing large crowds. This year his concert is moving out of Congregation Beth David to the Levy Family Campus in Los Gatos, and is open to the public. It will be at 2pm on Sunday, October 5th. He also performed yesterday at the To Life! Festival, where the video below is from, as well as this video.

Get your tickets online now at Brown Paper Tickets before they’re’ sold out. Advance tickets are available until 4:00 pm, Thursday, October 2nd. You can check out the FACEBOOK event too, but  note that RSVPing there isn’t buying a ticket. He’s got a CD out Yahad b’Shabbat, and will be performing a few songs from the CD he’s working on, to come out next year.

Posted by challahbackgirl on October 6, 2007

Cross-posted to Oy-BayY-Love, Jake Break and dj handler

The Bay Area is in for some big beats with Jewish soul in the coming weeks. Kneidalach ketches you up with all the Teapacks action, so I’ll fill in you on the others.

This isn’t Y-love, Jake Break and dj handler first time in the area, they we’re here back in February for Bureau of Jewish Education’s 2nd Annual Young Adult Feast of Jewish Learning. They not only got a lot of local publicity then, but these New Yorkers have been featured in media nationally and beyond. With all this press it seems silly to reinvent the wheel. Also, performing with these three are Sagol 59 and Ragtop of the Philistines Here’s what they want you to know about them, according to Shemspeed and their concert information is at the end of the post.
