Passover is quickly approaching, and with it comes a great social action opportunity. We’re again teaming up with SVYAD and Jewish Family Services to put together Passover care packages for seniors, in our community, who otherwise might not get to celebrate the holiday, or have any Kosher for Passover food. The care packages are distributed by Jewish Family Services. We’ll have nosh for us, and lots of fun. Action Alert: Israel Solidarity Rally In San Jose This Sunday

Israel Solidarity Rally This Sunday, Jan. 11, at 1pm

There will be a pro-Israel rally on Sunday, January 11 at 1pm at the Santa Clara County Building plaza located at 70 W. Hedding Street in San Jose. The South Bay Jewish community will convene to support Israel and voice our wish for peace. Keynote speakers will include Israeli Consul General Akiva Tor, Ro Khanna, chair of the DCCC Indo-American Committee, California State Assembly member Ira Ruskin, and Rabbi Melanie Aron of Congregation Shir Hadash.

This rally is part of “A Week of Solidarity with Israel,” a national initiative beginning this week to underscore and highlight the deep and widespread support of Israelis, Jewish and non-Jewish alike.

The Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley is committed to addressing humanitarian and social needs in southern Israel, part of this national initiative to stand in solidarity with Israelis during the current conflict with Hamas, the terrorist organization in control of the Gaza Strip.

Please join us, as the residents are very excited to have other young adults spend Shabbat with them. As always, $15 gets you a great Kosher dinner, and the chance to meet some amazing new friends. Light It Up! brought Jewish young adults from around the Bay to the Koret Pavillion last night for a (not-yet) Hanukkah Party. We filled a few barrels with food for Feeding America (formerly Second Harvest Food Bank), DJ-Doff rocked the house, as we tore up the dance floor. Thanks to all of our bartenders who kept the drinks flowing. Thanks as well to all the organizations and volunteers who pitched in to help organize, setup and cleanup the event.
