Sunday, March 9, 10am, Congregation Beth David Mitzvah Day: It’s a Double Mitzvah

Every year the CBD Social Action committee brings the community together to do a lot of good. This year the Young Adult Group is doing two Mitzvah projects, but you’re welcome to participate in any Mitzvah Day Project, Click here to view brochure.  Even if you can’t join us on March 9, you can help by collecting and donating items including:

  • New and gently used books for shelter residents
  • Small toiletries, stickers, give-away toys for “goody bags” for shelter residents
  • New and gently used clothing for all ages
  • Non-perishable food for the Food Bank barrels
  • Coins (all denominations, even the green type) to be used for the summer Rotating Shelter Project
  • Eye glasses and cases

Letter Writing Mitzvah 1Sunday, March 9, 10am-Noon, It’s a Double Mitzvah: Speak Up

Drop by Congregation Beth David (19700 Prospect Road, Saratoga, CA) anytime from 10am-noon for our first mitzvah project of the day. We’ll be doing a letter writing campaign for several causes.  Sample letters will be provided.  Contact cbdyag[at]gmail.com, Facebook.

KEEN Mitzvah 2Sunday, March 9, 11:45am, It’s a Double Mitzvah: Kids Enjoy Exercise Now (KEEN)

Our second mitzvah of the day is volunteering with the organization KEEN, Kids Enjoy Exercise Now  (http://www.keensanfrancisco.org/) to help kids with disabilities have a fun afternoon playing sports.  Meet at Congregation Beth David (19700 Prospect Road, Saratoga, Ca) at 11:45 sharp and we’ll carpool to a San Francisco YMCA. Training is at 1pm, followed by an hour session with younger kids, a snack break and then an hour session with older kids. You must RSVP for this event to get a mandatory registration form to cbdyag[at]gmail.com, Facebook.

KEEN is a national, nonprofit volunteer-led organization that provides one-to-one recreational opportunities for children and young adults with mental and physical disabilities at no cost to their families and caregivers. KEEN’s mission is to foster the self-esteem, confidence, skills and talents of its athletes through non-competitive activities, allowing young people facing even the most significant challenges to meet their individual goals.
