Last week, before the Hanukkah started, President Bush along with his wife Laura hosted their 8th annual Hanukkah Reception at the White House after visiting Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The White House Kitchen was kashured for the event, which recognized the 60th anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel and then President Truman’s recognition of the State of Israel. In recognition of this the grandsons of President Truman and Prime Minister Ben Gurion, Clifton Truman Daniel and Yariv Ben-Eliezer, with lighting the Truman Menorah that had been presented by Ben Gurion to Truman after Truman recognized the State of Israel.

As Rafi G of Life in Israel points out “I was duly impressed with Ben Gurion’s grandson who, when making the bracha upon the lighting of the menora, knew to not use Hashem’s name because it is not yet Hanukka.”

See the video from the event:

You can read the presidential remarks, watch the video (Windows), see more photos or hear the audio from the White House press release. While there’s a Spanish version, there’s not a Hebrew one.
