Posted by challahbackgirl on May 24, 2009
New Program Director for JIMENA, looking to focus on the younger generations (2nd & 3rd) of JIMENA Jews.
Here’s what she had to say in their recent newsletter:
Since JIMENA’s inception, I have watched this organization evolve and blossom from afar and I feel incredibly honored that I will now be a part of its growth as the new Program Director. The forgotten narrative that JIMENA strives to share with the world is one of utmost importance to me, as my heart and my heritage rests in the Middle East. After having spent these last 5 years in Tel Aviv, working as a Development Professional for various non profits, most recently at NATAL: Israel Trauma Center for Victims of Terror and War, my return to the United States and my new start with JIMENA feels natural and very exciting!
I am really looking forward to strengthening all of JIMENA’s programs and making our mission and projects known not only in the Bay Area, but in communities throughout North America. I’m specifically interested in establishing a Young JIMENA Leadership Committee and expanding our Speakers Bureau to include second and third generation Mizrahi refugees.
I’m looking forward to meeting many of you at this years Israel in the Gardens and my door is always open. I hope you will stop by and say hello!
Program Director, JIMENA
