Shalom, Chaverim! Spring is coming…so remember to turn your clock FORWARD one hour when you go to bed on Saturday night. Come join us for our fabulous events planned by our amazing volunteers.  Our events do not happen without you – our volunteers – stepping up to plan them. Thank you to all who have been organizing thus far.

A couple of important events to highlight:

Saturday, March 19:  PURIM!!!  Join hundreds of Jewish Young Adults from across the Peninsula and the South Bay for the Young Adult Purim Ball hosted at the OFJCC in Palo Alto from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.  There will be food, dancing, a DJ, open bar, and a costume contest.  Pull out those masks and join us. Cost:  $10 in advance; $15 at the door; $5 if you volunteer.  Please email if you want to volunteer – we need some bartenders, and set up and clean up crew. The early bird deadline to register is March 11, so buy your tickets today.

Want the 411 on Jews’ Next Dor?  Come to our Volunteer Meeting on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at a private home in Mountain View. We are planning our calendar of events for the next several months, and would love your ideas and input. Coming to the meeting is committing to nothing further, unless you decide to commit.  See you on the 23rd….more details coming soon.

Other Upcoming Events:

Saturday, March 12:  Jews’ Next Dor goes Contra Dancing in Palo Alto. What is Contra Dancing? A dancer and his or her partner dance a series of figures, or moves, with each other and with another couple for a short time. They then repeat the same figures with another couple, and so on. The figures are similar to those of old-time square dancing.!/event.php?eid=184955384876206

Sunday, March 13:  Let’s get ready for Purim with two fabulous events. We all love the traditional triangular pastry of Purim – Hamantaschen — so join us in making them at a private home in Cupertino starting at 1 pm. Please RSVP  or to and please bring $10 in cash to cover the cost of the ingredients. All who bake will have Hamantaschen to take home.

And then at 5 pm, join us for “Burlesque Elements in the Book of Esther”. Rabbi Ohriner from Congregation Beth David will take us through the spicy and sassy side of Purim – this is stuff you did not learn in Sunday School!!/event.php?eid=195379173814911

Sunday, March 20: Jews’ Next Dor goes to “Fiddler on the Roof” –this timeless classic with Tevya, “Matchmaker, Matchmaker, Make Me a Match” and “If I Were a Rich Man”. We have 11 tickets available for purchase. Purchase your ticket here:

Saturday, March 26:  Join Jews’ Next Dor as we lead Shabbat morning services at Congregation Beth David in Saratoga.  We have a full day planned with services, Kiddush lunch, “Laugh and Learn” with Doug Brook, and Shabbat activities through havdallah. We still have honors available for people wanting to participate. We would love to see you for all or part of the day. Come to services and support your fellow JNDers. If you are joining us for dinner, please pay in advance, as we are having dinner catered

I know it is a lot to ask, but I want to ask you to think about what you want to see Jews’ Next Dor do? Plan? What direction you would like the group to take? Jews’ Next Dor is for you, and by you – the board just helps facilitate these ideas.  We would love to hear from you regarding your thoughts about the group – good or bad, so we know what needs to be improved upon. I invite to talk to anyone on the board, or email Your thoughts are confidential.

Thank you all for your support and dedication to Jews’ Next Dor. Have a wonderful week.
