Shalom, Chaverim! I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful upcoming Memorial Weekend. Jews’ Next Dor has much in store in the upcoming weeks and we would love to have you join us.
Summer is coming, which means it is time for Jews’ Next Dor to transition to a new set of leaders. So, in light of this, we are having ELECTIONS for the new Steering Committee. Elections will be held on Tuesday, June 21 at 7 pm at a private home in Cupertino.
If you are attending to vote, you must be between the ages of 21-39, and have attended three JND or JND co-sponsored events in the past calendar year.
If you are planning to run for the new steering committee, you must be between the ages of 21-39; have attended five Jews’ Next Dor or JND co-sponsored events in the past calendar year. You must EMAIL JewsNextDor@beth-david.org declaring your intent to run, submit your areas of interest (ex. Volunteer recruitment, programming,), a professional looking photo and if you are a member of Congregation Beth David, or would be willing to join the synagogue. At least one member of the steering committee must be a CBD member. Candidates will have two minutes to present at the elections, and nominations will also be taken from the floor. The deadline to submit your candidacy is Tuesday, June 7. The list of candidates will be published 5-7 days before the election.

Saturday, May 28: Join Jews’ Next Dor and Congregation Beth David for “Laugh and Learn IX: The Year in ReJew”. Our own Doug Brook will be covering the topics of: “How Judaism Makes Being Good So Bad”, “How the Alef-Bet and the Greek Alphabet are so Similar”, and a “Jewish Take on What to Wear – The Fashion Bible.” Laugh and Learn starts after Kiddush, around 1:15. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/event.php?eid=119799588099076
Monday, May 30: Bocce Ball and Picnic in the Park. Please bring a vegetarian or dairy dish to share, and sports equipment for a day at Cuesta Park in Mountain View. Start time: 12:30 pm. We will be near the bocce ball courts. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/event.php?eid=214161785268948.
Wednesday, June 1: Join Jews’ Next Dor for Meet & Greet Dinner for Yom Yerushalayim at Ephesus in Mountain View – 185 Castro Street. Time: 7 pm. We will be feasting on Turkish delicacies “family style”. Dinner will cost between $10-$20/person, please bring small bills. *Note that Meet & Greet is the 1st Wednesday this month due to Shavuot. Friday, June 3: Join friends old and new for our 1st Friday Shabbat Potluck hosted at a private home in San Mateo. Please bring a vegetarian /dairy dish to share. Sunday, June 5: Join Jews’ Next Dor as we head to San Francisco for “Israel in the Gardens” at Yerba Buena Gardens. Enjoy music, community, and of course! Falafel to ring in the 63rd Birthday of Israel. Carpools will leave at 10:30 am from the Burger King at Grant Road and El Camino in Mountain View. Attendees will share gas and parking costs with their driver.
