Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity

When: 8:00am – 4:00pm, Sunday, May 20, 2012
Where: Cleo Dr, Cupertino, near highway 85 and De Anza Blvd
Habitat for Humanity transforms families and strengthens communities by partnering with volunteers, the community, and qualified low-income families to build decent, affordable housing for long-term home ownership. The organization serves families who currently live in inadequate housing, are willing to volunteer a minimum of 500 hours of “sweat equity” labor on Habitat homes, and have an ability to pay for their home. Volunteers are an integral part of Habitat’s program, and have helped build 50 homes in Silicon Valley to date.
On May 20, Jews’ Next Dor gets to be a part of the action at a build site in Cupertino. Congregation Beth David, our sponsoring synagogue, is one of several faith communities participating in the building of four new homes in Cupertino on Cleo Dr., near highway 85 and De Anza Blvd. On May 20, Jews’ Next Dor has been invited to fill five of the volunteer slots. The build shift runs from 8:15 AM to 4:00 PM, and no building experience is necessary (Habitat will train you at the beginning of the day). Come join us as we participate in this wonderful mitzvah to increase access to affordable housing in our community.
Due to the limited number of slots, you must RSVP for this event to JewsNextDor@beth-david.org, where you can also direct any questions. RSVPing via Facebook is not sufficient. If we get more than five volunteers, we will administer a waiting list. RSVPs must be received by Wednesday, May 2.
