Join Jews’ Next Dor on Sunday, October 14th from 7-10 pm as we take over the Laser Quest Arena in Mountain View and play a bunch of games including specialty ones not normally available to the public.

Jews’ Next Dor will be able to provide for 3 Hours of laser tag for the low price of $20 person.

Jews’ Next Dor plays Badminton at the Badminton Center

Come and join Jews’ Next Dor on September 23rd as we head to Bay Badminton Center in Burlingame for some fun hitting around a birdie around the courts. Fun will be had by all.

We will be attending the Drop-In sessions at the center. The cost will be around $15 per person. (However, if you have your own Badminton racket, the price is a few dollars less.)

To quote their website:
“Drop-In is unlimited 30 minute play sessions with your group using our electronic rotation queuing system. You and your friends play for 30 minutes. When the 30 minutes is up you must move to the next available court.During peak hours wait between courts is approximately 5-15 minutes.”

Random Trivia Fact: Badminton appears to be named after Badminton House, an estate in Gloucestershire, England owned by the Duke of Beaufort.

Kayaking on Elkhorn Slough with Jews’ Next Dor

Elkhorn Slough near Monterey is a great location where slumbering seals and playful otters, pelicans, hawks and other shore birds can be seen. And, kayaking is the best way to see them close up. Join Jews’ Next Door as we explore it this October during one of the sunniest times on the Slough which is also during the annual bird migration. All in all, a great time to explore.

We will be renting kayaks for the day for $27/person. All rentals include optional wetsuits, paddling jacket, and paddling pant, as well as a lifejacket. All rentals include an orientation to the Reserve with weather and tidal info. Bring a bathing suit, quick drying clothing, water shoes, and hat. Please also bring a light lunch to enjoy when we get down there.
We will meet at Congregation Beth David (19700 Prospect Road  Saratoga, CA 95070) at 10:00am to carpool down to the Slough.

Volunteering is a Mitzvah!  Come join Jews Next Dor as we volunteer by sorting food at the Second Harvest Food Bank’s new Cypress Center warehouse in San Jose.
 
We will meet at the Cypress Center: 4001 North First Street, San Jose, CA 95134.  Please enter using the front administrative entrance.

Please plan on arriving no sooner than 10 minutes prior to and no later than 10 minutes after your scheduled sorting shift time. Due to training and securing of the warehouse, staff are sometimes unable to accommodate late arrivals as registration closes 20 minutes past the schedule sorting shift time.
 
REQUIREMENTS
All volunteers must bring completed and signed forms with them to the Food Bank.
The minimum age to volunteer at the Food Bank is 14 years of age. For any volunteers under the age of 18, both Youth Permission Form and Volunteer Agreement are required, and a parent or guardian over the age of 21 must accompany those youth between the age of 14 and 15 years of age.
The dress code at the Food Bank is casual and comfortable. No shorts and no tank tops are permitted. Closed toe shoes and long pants are required. Please leave all valuables in the trunk of your cars. No purses or backpacks.

Join Jews’ Next Dor for our monthly potluck Shabbat dinner! This event is at a private home in Daly City and its address will be released closer to the event.

The host will provide challah, wine, the main dishes, and cutlery and plates. Please bring a vegetarian/dairy appetizer, side, dessert, and/or drink to share. If there is a particular thing you want to share with us, please do; if you aren’t sure what to bring, please follow these suggestions to help us get an even distribution of courses:

A couple of notes:

1)There is a cat that lives in the house. It will be in its room the entire time, but if you are allergic, please note.

2)When parking outside the house, please be sure to curb your wheels. The street is on a hill and cars that don’t curb their wheels have been ticketed in the past.

If your last name begins with A-G, please bring a SIDE/SALAD

If your last name begins with H-M, please bring a DRINK

If your last name begins with N-R, please bring a DESSERT

If your last name begins with S-Z, please bring an APPETIZER

**If the host contacts you about bringing a main dish, you do NOT also need to bring something else from this list.

Join us on the 2nd Wednesday of the month for eating delicious vegetarian foods in the traditional Ethiopian style. The cost will be less than $20 per person.
