Ice Cream Social & Board Games Saturday, November 5, 2011 7pm-10pm Social Hall at Congregation Beth David, 19700 Prospect Road, Saratoga, CA 95070Thinking about what to do with your Saturday night, November 5th? Go out to a party? Boring. Cook a romantic dinner for your partner and/or cats? Did that last weekend. Get chased by flying monkeys with magic wands? So 2010. Join Jews’ Next Dor for Ice Cream and Board Games instead. Come to Congregation Beth David in Saratoga at 7pm for the most original of Saturday nights, full of delicious frozen things and being beaten at Bananagrams – again. We’re an active community of Jewish 20 and 30 somethings centered in the South Bay, and we play a mean Apples to Apples. Meet & Greet at Siam Fine Thai Cuisine Wednesday, November 9, 2011 When it comes to Thai food, there are many restaurants in the Bay Area to choose from, but one stands out among the rest – Siam Fine Thai Cuisine. Get ready for some mouth-wateringly delicious Thai food, including Papaya Salad, Pad Thai, Curry and Jasmine Rice, and more! After a short brainstorming session, we will have mentors on hand to get you started with your event plans. Facebook Event Roaring 20s Murder Mystery Saturday, November 19, 2011 Don your fedora and boa for a Roaring Twenties Murder Mystery with Jews’ Next Dor and the OFJCC. At this interactive party, you’ll witness a fictitious murder and try to solve it, while being immersed in the good ol’ times. $5 cash at the door. Twenties-era costumes are encouraged. This event is at a private home in Mountain View and its address will be released closer to the event. The host will provide challah, wine, the main dishes, and cutlery and plates. Please bring a vegetarian/dairy appetizer, side, dessert, and/or drink to share. Please remember that this is a vegetarian/dairy dinner and be careful of which Thanksgiving leftovers you bring. The Yotvata in Town restaurant is located on the Tel-Aviv promenade, with a view (and the distinct salty fragrance) of the Mediterranean. They feature many dishes based on the dairy products of the Yotvata kibbutz in the south of Israel. Price will be under the Shekel equivalent of $20. Facebook Event 2nd Annual Talent Show Benefit for Jews’ Next Dor Saturday, January 28, 2011 Come one, come all to the second annual Talent Show Benefit for Jews’ Next Dor! We’re putting on a night of creative showcase for the entire community on Saturday, January 28, 2011. Young adults will be performing their family-friendly music, dance, comedy, poetry, and more, all to help raise money for all the wonderful Jews’ Next Dor programming we enjoy week to week. Do you have a talent that you’re willing to share? Fill out this form to sign up to perform! Registration deadline is January 3, and rehearsal dates are January 9 and January 15. This year, we are putting a particular emphasis on small group performances—so sign up with your creative, entertaining ideas! If you aren’t a performer, don’t worry; there are still several other ways to be involved. Please contact us at JewsNextDor@beth-david.org for information on the other volunteers we need. Most importantly, we need you, your friends, and your family in the audience! Get your tickets online for $8 in advance for ages 13+, $10 at the door. Ages 12 and under are $5 anytime. Jews’ Next Dor is Congregation Beth David’s Young Adult Group. “Dor” means “generation” in Hebrew. We’re an active community of Jewish 20 and 30 somethings centered in the South Bay. We enjoy multiple events each month including celebrating holidays, social action/mitzvahs, education, and of course social events around the Bay Area. Our community is comprised of singles and couples and is fully volunteer-lead. | Congregation Beth David is an egalitarian congregation affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. Located in Saratoga, California, [MAP] Beth David encourages its members to be active participants in creating a vibrant Jewish community throughout Silicon Valley. Join Jews’ Next Dor for our monthly potluck Shabbat dinner and the 4th night of Hanukkah! We invite you to bring your hannukiah and candles to light with us before we welcome in Shabbat.
The host will provide challah, wine, the main dishes, and cutlery and plates. Please bring a vegetarian/dairy appetizer, side, dessert, and/or drink to share. If there is a particular thing you want to share with us, please do; if you aren’t sure what to bring, please follow these suggestions to help us get an even distribution of courses:
If your last name begins with A – G, please bring a DESSERT
If your last name begins with H – M, please bring an APPETIZER
If your last name begins with N – R, please bring a DRINK
If your last name begins with S – Z, please bring a SIDE/SALAD
**Note: if the host contacts you about bringing a main dish, you do NOT also need to bring something else from this list.
