Event: United 93 Showing
Posted by jewsnextdor on August 12, 2011
When: September 11th, 2011, 7pm-10pm
Where: Private Home in Sunnyvale, CA; RSVP to JewsNextDor@beth-david.org for the address.
Incredibly, it has been ten years since the horrific attacks of September 11, 2001. On what is now known as Patriots’ Day, Jews’ Next Dor comes together to remember and reflect upon the tragic events of that day. We as a people understand better than most the importance of never forgetting–in this case, we make use of good cinema to help us recall. United 93, a fictional recreation of the events of September 11 from the perspective of the fourth hijacked plane–the one that never made it to its intended target because of the heroism of the passengers on board–is a very tough movie to watch. Yet it is precisely this sort of catharsis that makes us stronger: as friends, as a people, and as a nation.
Due to the limited space of the venue, this event is open only to the first 15 RSVPs to jewsnextdor@beth-david.org. RSVPs on the Facebook event are welcome, but are not considered “official” RSVPs for quota purposes. RSVPs beyond the first 15 will be queued on a waiting list, and will be notified of availability as soon as possible.
Please direct any questions to JewsNextDor@beth-david.org.
We look forward to sharing this experience with you.
